Harvesting chives for winter.
Last spring my neighbor put some seeds in the earth.
They grove like nothing I have seen!
She shared some plants with me last fall.
The first thing that starts to grow in the kitchen garden in our cold climate is the chives.
For our biggest holiday, Midsummer, we can not eat the herring without the chives!
My plants was so big now so I cut it down, will be new straws just in time for midsummer.
(Saved some straws to use the next couple of weeks)
I cleaned it in water, dried it on paper towels, cut it in small pieces and put it in a plastic bag in the freezer.
Just perfect all winter to garnish pretty much everything!
